6:00 pm Winter Blues Fest

This year’s Winter Blues Festival will take place on Saturday, February 4 at Alexandria’s.

Josh Garret will be first performing at the annual “Pointe of the Evening” event titled “Ballet and the Blues” at Winebrenner Seminary at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Winter Blues Festival are $5 at the door.  Other bands include the Mojo Millstream Band and the Jimi Vincent Band. Great times!!

Join the Black Heritage Library and Multicultural Center in celebrating their 30 Year Anniversary.  The Chamber Ambassadors will be conducting a ribbon cutting on Friday at 11:45 am.  Then enjoy the unveiling of the amazing exhibit “Red Tails-WWII Tuskegee Airman”. This is the Smithsonian’s exhibit that was exclusively awarded to the Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center.  The exhibit features African American Aviators from WWII to the Space Shuttle Program!

Tours, food and a chance to see all that’s new at the Center!

Come back on Saturday from 10:30 am – 6:00 pm.  At 3:00 pm a special program by Dr. Howard Ward, Asst. Vice President of Student Affairs and Studies from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York will focus on Black History Month.

On Sunday, the weekend festivities continue from 1:30 pm – 6:00 pm with multicultural dance, theatrical and musical performances.  $8.00 donation for adults and $3.00 donation for students and children over 7.

A Night at the Oscars is a black tie gala to benefit the American Red  Cross Hancock County Chapter celebrating the glitz and glamor of  Hollywood’s biggest night!  This year’s celebration theme is 1929-the first year the Oscars were held.  Evening wear/black tie is optional. You may wear your best from 1929.

You’ll walk up the red carpet greeted by hosts, paparazzi and screaming fans! Enjoy  delicious food from Hancock County’s best chefs, live  entertainment by Hep Cat Revival,  games and prizes, silent and live auctions featuring  autographed souvenirs from Hollywood’s biggest stars and more.

Tickets are $50 each or $85 per couple.
