12:00 am Multicultural Moments Reading Program

The Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center will begin its spring MULTICULTURAL MOMENTS” Reading Program for pre-school age children to first grade.  Children will learn about other families’ cultures from different parts of the world through storytelling, craft activities, music and guest visitors. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or other authorized adult.

A community program will be held on May 26th from 1pm – 2pm to celebrate the children’s “MULTICULTURAL MOMENTS” through music, display of their crafts, special readings and expressions. Light refreshments will be served directly following the program.

8:00 am !6th Annual Fish Festival

Anglers from 5 – 13 years of age can try their luck as the Hancock Park District hosts its annual Youth Fishing Event at Giertz Lake in Riverbend Recreation Area.  All youth must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. Rain or Shine!

Registration is required and  begins at 7:30 at the Lake Front Activity Center.  Fishing is from the bank only with limited adult assistance permitted.  Live bait will be available to purchase.  Your first 5 trout must be taken home with you.

Participants are eligible for prize drawings throughout the event.  Refreshments available.

1:30 pm "Curtains Up" Dance Recital

Young ladies and gentlemen dancing just for you!  It is time for Becky’s School of Dance 48th Annual Dance Performance.  You will enjoy many different kinds of music and dance including ballet, jazz and tap from performers as young as three years old!

These dance classes help build character, acquire poise, increase rhythm and coordination skills, strengthen bodies as well as teach discipline and endurance. Students learn physical expression, concentration, focus and commitment.  Enjoy performances that showcase the skills these young performers have learned throughout the year.

Performances begin at 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm and are approximately 2 1/2 hours long.
